Workshop Description

While REA determines the fundamental structure of entities in a business application, a useful software solution also contains units of business functionality unspecified by the REA model. These units of functionality often occur repeatedly across business applications and can be described as patterns – elements of reusable design. While REA describes the stable core of a business application, the additional functionality often changes together with the user requirements. An REA-based application can be adapted to changing requirements by configuring the patterns while still keeping its fundamental structure. This workshop shows how to design REA-based reusable enterprise solutions with business patterns.

Requirements

Participants should be familiar with basic REA concepts. Familiarity at the end-user level with a business software application would be useful but is not essential.
